DuPe's Bible Study
BletJhaw and I are praying earnestly every day for God to use us to save souls out here in the jungle! We are so humbled to see the power that God sends because it is so awesome and we know it is not in us! Time is really and truly running out and we are filled with urgency beyond description!FYI: We have been giving Bible studies to DuPe, family and friends now for over 4 years. The battle is long and hard, but we have covered more information with these people than anyone else over here, and they understand more.I wish you could have been there tonight! I am so deeply overjoyed over the Bible study tonight! It was just Dupe’s family present, probably due to heavy rain all afternoon. We had walked all the way, slipping and sliding through all the mud - umbrellas in hand - picture roll, Bible, flashlights and songbooks. My topic, Baptism. We had spoken about Baptism several times before, but tonight I wanted to find out who was really serious about God and wanting to get baptized. Had they counted the cost? I told about Jesus baptism, showing the picture - which they love, then explained how important this decision is. I ended with an Eric B. Hare story of a young Karen student in his school who did not get baptized with the others because his parents refused, telling him that they would disown him and tell the devils that he is dead! Later the other boys were baptized, but he was hiding under the bushes. As he watched the boys get baptized it seemed heaven was open to him and he could imagine that Jesus was saying to His Father, “This one is Mine, Father, and this one and this one - - - they are not ashamed to confess Me before men. I am not ashamed to confess them before You. But not that one under the bush over there, Father, he is afraid of being disowned. Not him!” The boy broke down and cried. He went to the teacher that night and told his story through his tears.”Thara", (Teacher), he said through his sobs, “I couldn’t stand it! To think that Christ was ashamed of me! I must go and tell my father that I must be baptized! That is exactly what he did. Soon he was baptized and was the happiest boy you will ever see!* * * *Now I asked the question that we had prayed so hard about: “How many of you want to go all the way with Jesus and get baptized into the Seventh-Day Adventist Church?”Do you know what? DuPe was the first to instantly and enthusiastically raise his hand all the way up! Then his wife, their 2 sons and one younger daughter. (DuPe is still using opium. Please pray for him that God will give him the strength to quit and stay quit so he can be baptized and be written in the Lamb’s book of Life)!!You know what? The work here is awe inspiring and wonderful beyond description. The hardships all fade into insignificance!
