Building Experiences
- Breck and I went to MeDooGlow to buy cement. We returned with a very heavy load. Halfway home a shocking thunderstorm hit us with heavy rain! I say shocking because it never rains here during this portion of the dry season. We were so thankful that we were not carrying bags of cement or other destructible things. But alas the roads became instantly muddy, and when even a slight downhill portion of the road was entered, the heavy load was in charge! The back of the truck swung wildly to the left when turning right and to the right when turning left. Breck was driving and doing a great job of controlling these out of control slides! Finally we came across the dreaded downhill switchback! I know Breck could describe it better than I can. Suffice it to say he calls it the corner of terror and the tire tracks tell the wild tale! They zigzag all over the place including just 6 inches from the precipice! We praise the Lord that he sent His angel to have charge over us to keep us in all our ways.
- The builder cut his left thumb deeply while pushing a chisel again some wood. After I sewed it up he went immediately back to work! In spite of all his manual labor, it healed up nicely. This experience also helped the builder be more friendly to me. We talk easily now.
- We have saved a huge amount of money by hauling in all the supplies ourselves. God has blessed our truck and travels. It is not a heavy duty truck with a big engine, but we have driven for hours and hours day after day! BletJaw has done most of the driving. He prays constantly, and God is with him! Sometimes the loads are so heavy that the springs, (All 6 of them on each side) are flat and turning downward, but up the 20% rocky, thick dust covered grades it goes. Our cargo is sometimes fragile, but always tied down as well as possible. The load always arrives in good condition. Only a few cement blocks have broken.
- The truck has broken down several times. Each time it is incredible how the Lord delivers us. Always we are near a place where we can get it fixed. If it happened in BYT there would be no way to bring in tools and a mechanic!
- One day 20 bags of cement were needed stat. BletJaw and I drove to MeDooGlow, loaded up and came about one third of the way home when a dreadful unusual downpour of rain came! It beat down upon the cement bags for quite a long time. Our hearts were heavy. We had no plastic to cover the load. We prayed that God would somehow save the cement, but I knew that it was of utmost importance that the bags stay dry. The other bags we had purchased were stored under the house with a tarp over top to guard against the dampness of the night air. How then could this load possibly be saved? It was even more catastrophic because it was Friday and no one was going to work on the Sabbath day. The cement would have to wait until Sunday morning! We prayed about it during that Sabbath. Praise the Lord, Sunday morning found only one bag that could not be used!
DEDICATIONThe builder tells us that he may be completed in just 2 weeks! If it is God’s will, I plan to have a large dedication service!! I will invite all the surrounding villages, the builders, the Sunshine Orchard school choir along with teachers and other students, and anyone else who wishes to come!
- I want to dedicate this building to God and ask Him to direct all the people who ever enter its doors, that they may receive a blessing and the physical, mental and spiritual help that they need.
- I want to talk and not keep silent about God and His love for them in giving this building to meet their needs. I want to introduce them to Jesus the One and Only Living God, and the truth of His Word. I want to Interest them in the Bible, and offer them Bibles in their own language. If they cannot read and still desire God’s word I will order them an audio Bible.
- I want the students to sing their finest songs.
- I want to invite the people to classes here so they can learn how to be well and stay well! Also how to treat various sicknesses in their homes.
- I want all the people living in BYT to cook food so everyone can be fed.
- I want to show them through the building and make them feel at home so they know it is for them and they can come even when they are not sick. I want to give the children balloons.
- I want them to know that we are here to help them quit the habits of smoking, drinking, opium, or betel nut if they so desire – please come!
- I want to show slides of all the people we have taken pictures of in all the villages and of the builders.
I want to praise the Lord as long as He lendeth me breath!
